A/N: Sorry I didn’t manage to post Last week’s Whisper installment after all. Since I have Haventon for this week and Whisper for next week I should be able to get back on top of it. Also Torvawk did you get my email?

It was midafternoon and Leisa was sleeping when the banging came on Michael’s door. Usually such a racket would have roused her immediately to full wakefulness but it was testament to how exhausted she was from the previous day’s efforts that she was struggling to pull herself to full consciousness. In spite of the grogginess she forced herself to sit up and reach for her dressing gown. She was safe here since she wasn’t alone and her allies would protect her if needed but it wouldn’t do to get into bad habits. Bad habits got a vampire killed.

So by the time the quiet tapping came at her door she had managed to shake off most of the grogginess and felt human. Which was a long way from feeling vampire but would do. Read the rest of this entry »

Anna stood in the empty outbuilding on Michael’s farm, closed her eyes and concentrated on the form of a wolf. Sarah, Daniel and Tanya were trying to teach her to shift consciously, and she’d be lying if she said she wasn’t a little nervous. She’d wanted to study photos first since she’d never actually seen a wolf and didn’t want to end up looking ridiculous because she got it wrong. She was also more than a little irritated when she expressed that fear and Sarah and Daniel had laughed. Tanya hadn’t, instead she’d scowled at the other two and shaken her head. A/N: Check out the first Sunday Blog in which I talk about where I’m at with life and writing.  While topics will vary it is going to be a regular thing.

“Do you want to come to the wake tonight, Dave?” Tanya asked as Kate drove her, David and Anna back from Keran’s. “It’s a special one for Uncle Mark’s supernatural friends and family but you fit that definition now.”

“It’s at Morna’s Bar, isn’t it?” Kate said. “Even if he doesn’t stay for the wake you should probably introduce David to Morna. Her Queen will want to know about him.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Hey, Peeps, the paperback version of Haventon Born is out and on special offer at £7.99 until 9th March. Why not pick it up?

“You’ll like Keran,” Kate said as she drove Anna, David and Tanya towards the dojo. “He’s a real sweetheart and a tremendous fighter. He’ll teach you a lot.”

“The lesson tonight is supernaturals only,” Tanya said. “But he’s asked me to bring you both a couple of hours early so he can judge what you know already.” She gave a smirk. “Be prepared for a few bruises from that.” Read the rest of this entry »

It was nearly dusk when Leisa drew up outside the pretty cottage in Ilfracombe where Edwin was currently living. Driving all day and resisting Haventon’s pull so soon after she’d gone back had taken its toll and her stomach was already knotted with hunger even though she’d visited one of her human friends before she left. She would need to feed again when she got back to Haventon and given how hungry she would be then she would have to be extra careful. For now, she pulled a flask of bloodwine from under the seat and gulped down the contents. Read the rest of this entry »

Upon moving closer to Stephen, he turned out to be a good looking young man with long raven back hair and piercing blue eyes. The only obviously non-human things about him were the impressive sixteen point antlers growing from his head and the fact that his ears were slightly pointed and now he was out of the mists both of those features were shimmering in a way that told Anna he had glamoured them away. As he approached he bowed to Kate, whose scythe and crown had vanished somewhere, leaving a mostly ordinary if very striking woman in a white sundress in their place. Read the rest of this entry »

“He thinks that we should use his farm as our base?” David asked after Michael had called and suggested the move to Sarah.

“Yeah,” she said. “He says that Laurel was paralysed when they got there and we’re running out of space here, plus there’s less chance of human casualties if we’re attacked there.”

“Those are both good points,” Tanya said. “Merry can you get us that minibus again because I think it’s a good idea.” Read the rest of this entry »

Callie’s sister Rachel and her pack held a village about ten miles from Haventon as their territory. Close enough to the town to be inside of its supernatural window but far enough away not to trigger her hyper-territorial sister and to slip under the radar of the traitors. Of all the outer circle pack leaders in the area she was the only one he actually liked. Hopefully elevating her pack to the coveted Haventon territory would give the others a lesson in the sort of behaviour he expected from his pack leaders. He doubted it though, it would more likely provoke a revolt that he would have to put down. Which would put his schedule back but Lucy was right, he did have to deal with the outer circle and sooner rather than later. He just hoped that enough would be salvageable. There were no lights on at the run down terraced house Laurel rented when they arrived and Michael was certain that she should be awake by now.

“Maybe she’s gone out already,” Leisa said. “She likes to get out as I recall. I can’t blame her living in this dump.” Read the rest of this entry »

“David!” His mother hugged him tightly when she arrived with Philip and Emma. “Phil told me what’s been going on. Thank goodness you’re okay!” She pulled back and looked at his eyes. “Ah, yes. I can see the silver if I look. You do have my mother’s eyes and you need to get better at glamour. I never imagined you might be a Mistwalker. You never showed the slightest sign of a glamour affinity as a child and I was looking. I would have tried to contact mum if I’d known.”

“It’s okay, mum.” David hugged her back. “It caught us all by surprise. How are you doing?” Read the rest of this entry »
