It was cold and Ophelia could see nothing but white mist in all directions. She looked down and saw she was glowing like when she fought. She racked her brains trying to figure out how she got there but the last thing she remembered was going to sleep before getting back from Silver’s.#

“What the hell?” she said. “Where am I?”

“My home,” some said. Ophelia looked around again and saw no one. But she knew this presence.

“You! You’re Alsia! You’re the one who attacked me!”

“I am and I’m sorry about knocking you out earlier. I was just trying to distract you so Mayran could get away before you hurt him but I expected you to shield so I hit you a little harder than I meant to.”

“What?” A sincere sounding apology was the last thing she had expected.

“I didn’t want to hurt you. I’m not your enemy, or at least I don’t want to be.”

“I don’t want to be yours either,” Ophelia replied. “But we can’t let those things go around possessing people.”

There was a sigh before Alsia spoke again. “I understand but you don’t know the whole story.”

“I know enough! Silver told me.” Ophelia looked around again. “Show yourself!”

“Silver? Is that what you call the Kithreia child?” Alsia said. “So she hasn’t told you yet, then? And do you really want to challenge me when you’re in my house and completely in my power?”

“What the…” Ophelia’s knees began to wobble as her strength drained away. She looked around for some source of support as she sank to her knees but found nothing.”

“I don’t want to hurt you, Ophelia, but nothing is worth the amount of suffering the prison inflicts on the Lost Ones. You and your allies have to find another way.”

“We’re looking for one,” Ophelia said.

“I know,” Alsia said. “And I trust you. Don’t let me down.”

“What?” Ophelia tried to stand back up but failed.

“Not now, dear. We’ll talk again.”

The world spun and Ophelia woke with a start.

“Was that a dream?” She pulled herself up on her elbow and grabbed her notepad and pen off the bedside table as she looked at the clock. It was less than two hours since they had got back from Silver’s home. “It must have been. This whole thing is getting to me.” She scribbled down a few notes before lying down to sleep again.

After a few minutes she drifted off to sleep again only to be visited by dark dreams of something hungry and formless leaking in to the world through the remains of the cracks, a pair of cold golden eyes and a pain in her back.

Once again she woke abruptly and grabbed for her notepad. The dream tried to slither away from her as if it didn’t want to be remembered, but Ophelia managed to hold on to scraps which she scribbled down quickly.

It seemed to take ages this time but eventually she got back to sleep and by the time Sera’s alarm woke her she remembered only sketchy details of either dream and her notes made little sense to her.
