Valeria entered the gym with the young woman who was taking her and Salia to where the non-combatants were going to hide in time to hear the discussion they were having. She reached out and laid a hand on her guide’s shoulder.
“You need a unicorn?” she asked.
“Yes,” Matthias said. “But both Dan and Lyr are needed at the rescue, so we can’t use Ebona or Kenna.”
“It’s a problem for you but not an insurmountable one,” Valeria said. “I can find a unicorn who’ll be willing to help if you’ll gate us to the Storm Palace. Several if you want but you probably only need one.”
“Oh, would you, Val? That’d be wonderful of you.”
“Of course I will,” she said. “I want to help.” She paused. “I’ll take Salia with me as well.”
“Well the Storm Palace is probably even safer than Scilly and you have been gone a while,” Matthias agreed. “You probably should get back.”
“I left Rai and Tonara in charge – they know what they are doing and Dariad’s been keeping an eye out for things they can’t handle for me,” she replied. “My people don’t need micromanaging.” She looked over at Salia who was already hugging Amy goodbye. “Good girl.”
“I’ll come and see you soon, Amy,” Salia said. “I’m sure mummy will let me.” She hugged Amy again then ran over to Valeria and took her hand.
“We don’t have much time,” Matthias said. “So let’s go.” He opened a gate to the Storm Palace and led them through it.
Valeria immediately headed to the throne and lifted the lockdown before calling for one of her Unicorn subjects to attend her. Only moments later a beautiful golden mare with a horn of crackling lightning galloped up and bowed her head.
“How may I serve you, my Queen?”
“Ah! Procella,” Valeria said. “How do you feel about humans? Because I have a task for you but it involves going to Gaia and helping Matthias for a day or so.”
“I don’t mind humans.” Procella turned to Matthias. “What do you need me to do?”
“Just tell us if a potential ally is dealing honestly with us and reassure him we are with him,” Matthias said. “It should be only for this evening. Kenna and Ebona should be back after that.”
“Ah,” Procella said. “Yes, I can do that. It’ll be interesting to see what Gaia is like at least. I’m sensing some urgency as well. We need to leave immediately?”
“We do,” Matthias said. “Is that okay?”
“It is,” she said. “I don’t have a foal at the moment.”
“Thank you.” Matthias turned to Valeria. “Look after yourself, Val, and call us if you need us.” He re-opened the gate back to the school and he and Procella vanished through it.
Valeria watched him go before calling Tonara and Rai to tell her what had been happening while she was gone.

Great one
🙂
I am glad they found a unicorn that fast that is willing to help – and also that Salia is save!
😀
I first found this years ago when you had just started, but lost track of it. Just ran across it again a few days ago, and I am glad to see you have kept it up. Far too many interesting web serials fizzle into nothingness.
On a side note, have you thought about adding an RSS feed?
Ah, disregard the side note. I found the RSS, though it took a bit.
Also, I can’t link to the next page except through the index. It may be my phone acting up, but it seems worth noting
Thanks! I’ll check it out and see if it’s a link problem. (And yeah I probably should make the rss more obvious.)
