Dragon Wars Audio
The sound quality on the file for tonight’s update is appalling and I don’t have time to re-record it tonight. Especially not since I need to do some troubleshooting first to figure out why it’s gone all wonky even though I’ve changed nothing. :/ I’ll try and get it up tomorrow.
However I’ve been thinking ofcalling a pause anyway. I rather jumped the gun since I’ve been editing the story for ebook I’m thinking it might make sense to redo the whole thing using the ebook version now while not much is out.
So I’m putting this out to the handful of listeners I have so far. Do you want me to pause and rerecord or carry on reading the onsite version?
Thanks,
Becka

Chapter Twenty Two
Part Four
Alaryia frowned at him, then produced a ball of raw mabain from one of the pockets in her robe. “It was more than worth it. It was absolutely necessary.” She began playing with the ball of mabain, spinning it into random shapes. “You know your entire world is made of this stuff?”
“Of course,” he said. “But I don’t see–” Read the rest of this entry »

It didn’t take Darya long to catch up with Julie; he only had to follow the trail of rage dripping off her as she stormed towards the Core gate. But why was she heading there?
“Where do you think you’re going?” He grabbed her hand just as she entered the clearing around it.
She scowled at him and yanked her arm free. “To rescue Marama. It’s hurting her to shut me up.” Read the rest of this entry »

Haventon Born
Chapter Eight Part One
Anna was thinking hard on Friday afternoon as she sat under a rowan tree waiting for David. She had woken that morning having had that same dream again, but this time the whole wrongness of it had seemed even more obvious. Her attacker had really misplayed his hand by stopping her talking about it, it just made it obvious. Someone was trying to control her and being controlled was something that she would not tolerate. Chapter Twenty Two
Part Three
“Are you sure about this?” Dariad asked. “I’m not sure they won’t riot when you address them.”
“Have a little faith in me, Dariad,” Alaryia sat in front of a mirror, arranging her her hair into a far more elaborate style than usual with the help of one of her goblins. “I’ll talk them around.” She gave a wry smile. “It’s not like they can harm me and I’m not going to let them harm you or themselves.”
“Somehow that doesn’t reassure me,” he said. “I think I trust you, but I still don’t want you conquering my city.”
“I don’t want to conquer it either.” She cocked her head at him. “But if I can’t win them over, what am I supposed to do? One way or another we can’t let the situation carry on. There will be a revolt eventually if we do.” He opened his mouth to say he could use the throne on them but she cut him off. “That would only stop them temporarily and it’s hard on them.” Read the rest of this entry »

Chapter Twenty Two
Part Two
“Ystelyan.” Valeria inclined her head in greeting as the blue dragon strode into her throne room. She’d been startled to receive an imp from him requesting an audience but under the circumstances she’d felt that it was wise to accept. Her court was less enamoured of the idea but they were following her lead.
“Queen Valeria, thank you for receiving me. I wasn’t sure you would.” He glanced around at the members of her court who were lurking around the edges of the throne room and watching him with big, frightened eyes. His eyes fixed on the shining gold unicorn filly standing by the throne and he smiled at her. “Little one, would you please tell your fellows that I mean no harm to any of you and I most certainly am not here to feed. Please don’t be afraid.” Read the rest of this entry »

The Trap Thirteen
Karen watched Julie carefully. The girl hadn’t said anything since they got her back to their rooms. Instead, she had sat on the floor and sipped at the tea Jason had brought her after they’d secured the other three in one of the side rooms. Karen could feel Alban seething. She reached out and squeezed his hand.
Are you okay? she asked mentally.
They killed my father, he said bitterly. And we’re just sending them home.
Ah. She squeezed his hand again. They’re just kids. They’ve been used.
She isn’t, he said. She’s old enough to know better.
“You’re planning a trap for the others aren’t you?” Julie said. “With Shell, Ali and Logan as bait. It might work – he’s not very bright.” She shook her head. “No, that’s not right – he’s intelligent enough. He just doesn’t use it much – too stubborn.”
“Why did you help him? He’s a dragon.” Karen asked. Read the rest of this entry »
