Maddan was dead…

Gwen wrapped herself in a glamour of invisibility and limped through the corridors that she had ruled only hours before.

The thrice damned Court of Hours held the palace now and their Rebel Court allies stalked around as if they owned it. If that alone had been the outcome of the day it would merely have made her lip curl at the upstarts’ impudence. She could have taken it back and punished them easily enough once she rallied her loyalists, after all. Read the rest of this entry »

Anna hung back watching as the others crowded around Maddan as he admired the pool. She was feeling uneasy, a cold leaden weight creeping into her stomack and freezing her blood, and much as she felt gut wrenching pity for the Winter King she found herself wanting to yell at everyone to get on with why they were there.

A cool touch on her forearm made her look around to see her mother’s ghost looking at her with a tilted head.

“Something wrong, sweetie?” she asked. “I know that look. I wore it often enough myself.” Read the rest of this entry »

LoTW unexpected hiatus update

April 21st, 2018  |  Published in Haventon Chronicles, News

Hi Peeps!

Sorry I haven’t posted for the last couple of weeks. Nothing is wrong except the that I am not happy with Chapter 30 yet and am rewriting it. Tomorrow I am going to post a chapter of Whisper that I almost have ready so I am not leaving you with nothing to read.

Sorry for the delay,

Becka

Lord of the Wolves Chapter Twenty-Nine

A/N: Happy Easter, peeps! Sorry this is late. I kinda lost track of the days.

What Cheryl had referred to as the Winter Garden turned out to be just that. A large courtyard filled with all kinds of winter flowering plants in spite of the fact that the walls were made of shining blue ice and it was cold enough to freeze the fountain at the heart of the frost rimed lawn in full spate. The entire garden, it seemed, was a tribute to the beauty that could be found in winter.

In spite of the many dealings he’d had with Mistwalkers over his three centuries of life Michael had never actually been in the mists before. And even though he was terrified for Laurel he couldn’t help looking around in fascination as they rode on fairy horses towards the Summer Palace.

Carry me out of here, Lost Child, and I will guide you safely to our allies. ?

That definitely had to be the crown, Laurel decided. There was nothing else in here it could be.

“Our allies? You mean your allies??” she asked. “How do I know they are mine.”

I mean Our allies, Lost Child.? They are the same thing, especially should you choose to accept me. Read the rest of this entry »

Colin sat by his Aunt Rachel and listened quietly as the other’s plotted.? He’d arrived with the rest of Maelin’s pack to help with the attack, but had soon realised that he was not going to be sent in either party. Apparently Lucy said he wasn’t recovered enough from his malnourishment to be going into a pitched battle yet and Maelin deferred to her. It made him feel useless but no amount of arguing had shifted her or Maelin on the matter.

“Hey, cub.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Please check out my February Update post here.

Anna watched her aunt treat Stephen’s wounds with fascination. Lucy worked quickly and methodically starting with the largest wounds and even the most gaping gash ceased bleeding and seemed to melt and knit together in moments when she touched it. What Anna really wanted was time to talk to her and find out from her why she was siding with someone everyone said was evil, but somehow that seemed unlikely with everything that was happening. “What about reading her mind?” David asked. “Wouldn’t that prove if she’s honest or not?”?

“Would it were so easy,” Lillian said. “Most often that would be a solution, but Lady Cheryl is a lorekeeper and the magic that grants them their deep knowledge of our kind also protects their minds from such probing so it may not be taken by our enemies.”

“It’s how we protect our secrets from the Hollowers,” Cheryl said. “To be a lorekeeper is to be both a living library and its librarian. On the positive side that means even if I were being forced to work against you – which I am not – Gwen wouldn’t be able to get your plans from my mind.” Read the rest of this entry »

He was inside the sword David realised almost immediately. Mentally anyway. Though he was surprised that the inside of the sword appeared to be a fairytale castle.

“It is a little strange,” the woman sat on the stairs of the dais said. “But it’s coming from your mind not mine so you’ll have to figure that one out yourself.” She rose to her feet and he saw that she was dressed in armour of the same glowing milky ice as the sword and that she strongly resembled Sabren. He had a feeling that he knew who she was. Read the rest of this entry »
