A/N: Hey, Peeps! Please read this post. I’m afraid it’s a begging post but please take a look.
I could really use your help.

“Are you okay, mum?” Daniel asked once he and Alsia had fought their way through her attackers.
“Somehow.” Sonia was standing back to back with Nephele and both of them were covered in multicoloured Kithreiri blood. “But that was hairy – they nearly got through my defences. Is it just me or am I being singled out for attention here?”
“It’s not just you, Sonia-ida,” Alsia said. “I suspect Xantaria is having her people go after you as a favour to Mitakrian, but don’t worry – we’ve got you’re back.”
“My thanks, Alsia-ida,” Sonia said.
“No thanks needed.” Alsia gave a warm smile before lunging and casually impaling the final attacker who was diving towards Sonia’s back. “It is entirely my honour.” She looked up at the tear, which was still closing slowly. “Come on, close damn you! Then we can get out of here.”
“It’s going better than expected.” Sonia said. “We were just thinking it would calm the storm and let it close naturally.”
Alsia smirked at that. “Somehow I’m not surprised. Anda always was an overachiever.” She looked around at the battle. “It looks like everyone else is holding their own and another wave is heading for you because Xantaria is rather predictable in a fight, so we’ll stick with you.” She whirled and engaged the new attackers as they came within range.
Daniel exchanged a glance with his mother and looked around to check on Ebona. He spotted her near the heart of the battle, fighting alongside Kenna. The two unicorns were defending Darylyan, harrying and driving off anyone who got through the outer defenders.
Are you okay? he asked. Do you need me?
So far, she said. We’ll be fine. Look after your mother.
I intend to, he said. Be careful.
You too, she said.
Daniel watched her a moment longer to reassure himself she was okay, then rejoined the fight to defend his mother.

Karen was glad when the she found herself in the lull of the fight long enough to catch her breath and take stock of what was happening around her. She twisted around and looked at Alban, who was standing behind her breathing heavily.
“It’s a good job our allies provided so many troops,” he said. “We’d have been in real trouble without them.”
Karen nodded as she leaned against a large boulder and looked around for another attacker, but there seemed to be a lot less of them now.
“I think we’re winning.” Karen crossed her fingers as she said that to avoid jinxing them.
“It looks like it,” Alban said. “But we haven’t won yet. Let’s go and help your father; he seems to have engaged the leader of this force. If we can take him out, I think the rest will collapse.”
Karen looked where he was pointing and saw her father facing off against the tall kithreian with lurid orange wings who she had noticed hanging back throughout the battle and coordinating the kithreiri troops. Her father seemed to have it all in hand but help never hurt.
“You’re right,” she said. “Let’s go.”
