Takilyan turned back to the others. “Who else is going to help?”
“We’re working on that,” Alaryia said. “Endaria and Gerian have agreed to keep an eye on Shalriya and Mitakrian. I’m glad Gerian’s agreed not to take advantage of this”
“I’m not surprised. Even in descent he knows how dangerous those two are. I’d be more surprised if he hadn’t. And he’s right; someone does need to keep an eye on them.”
“Endaria is sending us some of her troops for the attack as well,” Ystelyan said, then paused as Carl let out a groan. “Carl-iatian?” Read the rest of this entry »

Liam certainly seemed cool with being woken in the middle of the night. He turned up on Tanya’s doorstep less than an hour after she called, a slim, dark haired young man in black jeans and a white shirt. There seemed to be nothing rag tag about him at all.
He grinned at Tanya as she led him into the sitting room. “This is quite a convocation and I don’t think most of these people are in the Order. Would you like to introduce us and explain what’s going on.”
“Remember you promised not to freak?” she asked.
“When have I ever freaked, Tanya? I am not Rhiane,” He said blandly as he settled into a seat. “But if you’re trying to make me curious then you’ve succeeded. I am really curious now. What on earth is going on?” Read the rest of this entry »

“I’d like to help!”
They all turned in surprise to see a dragon in light green robes with matching green eyes. Saeaera was with him with an apologetic look on her face, and a semi-skeletal gryphon stood behind them both.
“And it sounds like you need us,” the gryphon said. Read the rest of this entry »

“Nari,” Matthias said. “He called her Nari. Seems awfully familiar.”
“Yes,” Ystelyan said thoughtfully. “And he sounded very fond of her. You’re thinking what I am, aren’t you, Matthias-idan?”
“I think so, yes.” Matthias nodded. “They’ve been stuck in a rather stressful situation together for some time. It’s entirely possible they’ve unintentionally bonded.” He hesitated. “What would the offspring of a dragon and a human be, anyway?” Read the rest of this entry »

“Eh! Was that supposed to happen?” David asked as he opened his eyes. “I could hear her thoughts.”
“Well it’s a little unusual,” Meredith said. “But you’re a telepath as well…” She frowned over at Tanya, Daniel and Sarah who were all trying not to laugh. “What?” she said.
“I am sorry!” Tanya waved a hand in apology. “It’s not really funny.” She paused and pulled a face. “Oh, who am I kidding – it’s hilarious in a bitterly tragic kind of way.” Read the rest of this entry »

Naria vanished just a moment before the door banged open and Emms walked in, frowning. When he saw only Andrew there, he looked around in confusion.
“Was one of the dragons in here?” he demanded.
Andrew blinked at him with mock bleariness, glad he was tired enough to pull off the deception. “I don’t know. You just woke me up. If you’re going to keep me chained to this thing you could at least let me sleep properly.” Read the rest of this entry »

Andrew was gently shaken awake and opened his eyes to find Naria standing in front of him. It was dark and silent. He gave her a questioning look.
Sorry to wake you, but it’s the only time no one is watching and your father wants to talk to you, she said. My mirian and I are going to act as relays for your conversation.
Ah! Thank you. Read the rest of this entry »

“Because, my dear little Anna, humans will inevitably uncover our existence, and sooner rather than later.” Ragnar was standing in the doorway and she wondered how long he’d been listening. ” Think about it, dear girl. With all the surveillance and scanning, how long until humanity spots the immortals among you? How long before simply moving no longer conceals us? How long before the science which has given us this reprieve by making people think us mere myths uncovers the fact that we’re not? And once it does what do you think they’ll do about it? I’ll tell you what, they’ll panic and turn into a mob with the high-tech equivalent of torches and pitchforks. The only thing to do is keep our existence secret for as long as we can and prepare for the coming war. Humans out number us, but we are powerful. We can win.” Read the rest of this entry »

Shadavar was waiting for them in Waldhalfen.
“Welcome back!” The unicorn tapped horns with Ebona as Daniel carried Marian through the portal. “We have a secure place to keep your prisoner and Alaryia and Estara are waiting to check on her condition.” He gave a thoughtful whicker as he eyed Marian. “She is rather messed up, isn’t she?”
“Yes,” Matthias said. “Mitakrian did it, apparently.” Read the rest of this entry »

Marian was sitting up when they got down into the cellar, hugging her knees and staring into space. She didn’t even twitch, let alone look up as they entered. Tears dripped from her eyes but she made no move to wipe them.
“Marian?” Lucas said softly. There wasn’t even the slightest response, even when he repeated her name more loudly. She was still as a statue except for the gentle rise and fall of her chest as she breathed. Read the rest of this entry »
