Lord of the Wolves Chapter Thirty

Anna hung back watching as the others crowded around Maddan as he admired the pool. She was feeling uneasy, a cold leaden weight creeping into her stomack and freezing her blood, and much as she felt gut wrenching pity for the Winter King she found herself wanting to yell at everyone to get on with why they were there.

A cool touch on her forearm made her look around to see her mother’s ghost looking at her with a tilted head.

“Something wrong, sweetie?” she asked. “I know that look. I wore it often enough myself.” Read the rest of this entry »

Becka gets featured in a Podcast!

September 26th, 2018  |  Published in News

The Cultural Quarter of an Hour is a Podcast about my local area and this week it features me talking about Haventon Born and my writing process.

Why not have a listen?

Be warned I have a very nasally voice.

And we’re back

Sorry about the outage. This post will explain what happened and give a schedule for me starting to post again,

So What happened?

Earlier this year I realised that even though I now have a permanent job I could not afford to pay this years hosting fees. I had a bit of a panic trying to find a solution when a friend offered to host it for me on her server. So I downloaded a complete backup from the old host and sent it across.

Unfortunately the move did not go smoothly as hoped and it’s taken until today to finally iron out the last of the problems (something weird with the SSL cert – and hey we have an SSL cert now :-D) so we’re finally up and running again.

So everyone say thanks to Woozle for her help.

So will you be posting again now?

Yup! I will finish posting Lord of the Wolves over the next couple of weeks as it is all written and then start updating Whisper weekly again.

Can we help?

Yes! In October I will be editing LotW so come November I will be looking for beta readers to do some error spotting before I try to figure out how I am affording a cover artist when I am living month to month. So you can either help out by volunteering for the beta read or if you have some moolah and aren’t completely miffed with how scratty things have been for a while you can contribute to my cover fund on my ko-fi.

So that’s all for now. Watch out for a couple more posts in the next few days including me guesting on local podcast and the next LotW post.

A/N: Sorry about the delay on the last couple of chapters of Lord of the Wolves. Have a chapter of Whisper to make up for it.

When Mark finished his stint in the dome Prima immediately ambushed him with her request for navigation training. Amanpreet smothered a grin with her hand as the small Talosian actually bounced around him while making her request. Mark watched Prima’s antics for a moment with a bemused expression.

“You want to learn to navigate?” he asked. “That’s not a quick thing to learn, Queen Prima.” Read the rest of this entry »

LoTW unexpected hiatus update

April 21st, 2018  |  Published in Haventon Chronicles, News

Hi Peeps!

Sorry I haven’t posted for the last couple of weeks. Nothing is wrong except the that I am not happy with Chapter 30 yet and am rewriting it. Tomorrow I am going to post a chapter of Whisper that I almost have ready so I am not leaving you with nothing to read.

Sorry for the delay,

Becka

Lord of the Wolves Chapter Twenty-Nine

Start | LoTW Chapter Twenty-Eight | Index | LoTW Chapter Thirty

A/N: Happy Easter, peeps! Sorry this is late. I kinda lost track of the days.

What Cheryl had referred to as the Winter Garden turned out to be just that. A large courtyard filled with all kinds of winter flowering plants in spite of the fact that the walls were made of shining blue ice and it was cold enough to freeze the fountain at the heart of the frost rimed lawn in full spate. The entire garden, it seemed, was a tribute to the beauty that could be found in winter.

In spite of the many dealings he’d had with Mistwalkers over his three centuries of life Michael had never actually been in the mists before. And even though he was terrified for Laurel he couldn’t help looking around in fascination as they rode on fairy horses towards the Summer Palace.

Carry me out of here, Lost Child, and I will guide you safely to our allies. ?

That definitely had to be the crown, Laurel decided. There was nothing else in here it could be.

“Our allies? You mean your allies??” she asked. “How do I know they are mine.”

I mean Our allies, Lost Child.? They are the same thing, especially should you choose to accept me. Read the rest of this entry »

Colin sat by his Aunt Rachel and listened quietly as the other’s plotted.? He’d arrived with the rest of Maelin’s pack to help with the attack, but had soon realised that he was not going to be sent in either party. Apparently Lucy said he wasn’t recovered enough from his malnourishment to be going into a pitched battle yet and Maelin deferred to her. It made him feel useless but no amount of arguing had shifted her or Maelin on the matter.

“Hey, cub.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Please check out my February Update post here.

Anna watched her aunt treat Stephen’s wounds with fascination. Lucy worked quickly and methodically starting with the largest wounds and even the most gaping gash ceased bleeding and seemed to melt and knit together in moments when she touched it. What Anna really wanted was time to talk to her and find out from her why she was siding with someone everyone said was evil, but somehow that seemed unlikely with everything that was happening.
