Both Asra and Celeste were still sleeping off Halia removing Xantaria’s venom capsules when the group took them and Kezia back to Alaryia’s palace. Alaryia immediately strode over and pushed a pendant into Kezia’s hand.

“Is this like the one Tara has?” Kezia asked.

Alaryia nodded. “We need you to tell us exactly what happened and you can’t do that if you’re about to fall down.” Read the rest of this entry »

When Adrian returned, he not only had Celeste Laverne and Lucas with him but also an older woman who immediately slumped towards the floor. Adrian caught her and helped her sit on the bed.

“I told you this was a bad idea, Aunt Kezia,” he said, as Celeste rushed over to Asra.

“No, it’s fine,” the older woman said. “I need to talk to Caroline.” She looked over at Julie. “I’m sorry, Caro. Cel and I didn’t want to help them but he… there was nothing we could do. We helped as little as possible. I think that’s why that Xantaria sent in the fake Kayleigh. She was obsessed with some message that our ancestors had left. She had Cel try and read it but she couldn’t.” Read the rest of this entry »

Nalatria was still breathing heavily, though some of the tension had gone from her body. She pulled herself up to one knee and bowed her head to Chaya.

“I’d be lying if I said I was entirely happy, Lady Chaya,” she said. “You remind me too much of my father, even though you aren’t like him. I’m happier with this situation than I was under his rule. I will support you, but…” She turned to look at Sonia. “I would have preferred Sonia-ida. I was trying to work out how to run to her.”

Sonia stared at her. “I’m not ready yet.” She looked at Ebona. “Is she speaking the truth?” Read the rest of this entry »

Mitakrian looked extremely sick when he was dragged into the room where the ten first dragons and Chaya were gathered in a circle awaiting him. Halia pushed him to his knees at the centre of the circle, then withdrew to the edge of room.

At first he didn’t seem aware of where he was, but then his eyes fixed on Chaya and he lunged at her. Chaya didn’t even flinch; she just kicked him in the chest, sending him sprawling back to the floor. She stood over him and spoke coldly in draconic before walking over to Halia. Upon moving closer to Stephen, he turned out to be a good looking young man with long raven back hair and piercing blue eyes. The only obviously non-human things about him were the impressive sixteen point antlers growing from his head and the fact that his ears were slightly pointed and now he was out of the mists both of those features were shimmering in a way that told Anna he had glamoured them away. As he approached he bowed to Kate, whose scythe and crown had vanished somewhere, leaving a mostly ordinary if very striking woman in a white sundress in their place. Read the rest of this entry »

It was several more hours before Takilyan returned but when he did, Gerian was with him.

“Endaria-miria will join us soon,” Takilyan said. “She’s posting extra troops to the border she shares with Mitakrian in case of an explosion.”

“Wise of her,” Alaryia said. Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Sorry about the lack of a Whisper update this week. I’ve been busy with my job hunt (on the upside I had an interview this week and have three more this week).

“Sonia-ida, Matthias-idan, it is an honour to meet you and your children at last.” Even though Indaturan had not had chance to introduce the dragon he had returned with, the grey eyes and resemblance to Indaturan made it clear he was Kandarian. “My brother speaks of you often, though I must admit I am more sceptical of your alliance than he is.” Read the rest of this entry »

“Chaya, dear!” Alaryia helped the Dryad to a seat as soon as the group teleported to her palace. “How are you? It looks like the venom is affecting you.”

“It is,” Chaya said. “But not too badly yet. I actually feel better than I did so I think the antidote you’re feeding him is working.”

“It is,” Alaryia said. “Alsia-ida identified it correctly, thank goodness, but that still leaves us the question of what to do with him. Even if you were willing to die, we can’t kill him yet. Even knocking him into transition would have the same effect.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Happy New Year!

“Well it’s not good, certainly,” Alaryia said. “But he’s not dead yet so we can still prevent the worst disaster coming to pass. I hate to say it but we’re going to have to save the evil bastard’s life for now.”

“Would it really cause his entire court to frenzy?” Matthias asked.

“Most of it, at least,” Estara said. “It’s the psychic shock. Most of us set up a second just in case. But there’s another reason we can’t kill him out of hand.” Read the rest of this entry »

“He thinks that we should use his farm as our base?”? David asked after Michael had called and suggested the move to Sarah.

“Yeah,”? she said. “He says that Laurel was paralysed when they got there and we?re running out of space here, plus there?s less chance of human casualties if we?re attacked there.”?

“Those are both good points,”? Tanya said. “Merry can you get us that minibus again because I think it?s a good idea.”? Read the rest of this entry »
