A/N: Happy New Year to my dear readers!
Andrew hadn’t realised quite how hard it would be to watch Naria feeding. It probably wouldn’t have been so bad if she had been fully in control of her herself but watching her having to be restrained by Ystelyan as she fed on over a dozen goblin and speaker volunteers was upsetting, especially since many of them passed out before Ystelyan guided her on to the next one. He was glad they were all obviously willing but it was still disturbing and part of him wanted to look away – but he couldn’t do that to her.
Instead, he knelt by her again and took her hand. She squeezed it gratefully and gave him a wan smile as a couple of goblins helped a woozy naiad away. Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Sorry about the unexpected skip on Haventon.Christmas interfered. I will be posting on New Year’s Day.
Lydia and Karen were sitting with their mother in the conservatory when Sonia suddenly put her teacup down with a clatter and rose to her feet. “Ah! He’s finally awake. Let’s go and chew him out for that piece of idiocy.” She stomped towards the stairs. “Come on. I’ll need to formally introduce you as well – once I’m done yelling.”
Karen got to her feet immediately but Lydia hesitated.
“Maybe we should wait until you call us, mum,” Lydia said. “Getting chewed out in front of other people is embarrassing.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: A Very Happy Christmas to all my readers!
“I take it I can’t feed her enough?” Andrew said.
“In these circumstances, no,” Ystelyan said. “Because the connection between our physical selves and our essence is damaged, it takes far more energy than it should for us to recover from injuries. She’ll need to feed a great deal to recover from this – and I’ll have to restrain her from killing them.” He paused and gave Andrew a smile. “But if you’re willing to let her feed on you, it would help. You’ll have to trust me to stop her, though, as she isn’t able to restrain herself without my help at the moment.”
Andrew swallowed nervously. “Naria trusts you and I trust her judgement.” He reached down, took Naria’s hand and gently began pouring energy into her. Read the rest of this entry »

Anna knew she should be panicked by the feeling of Ragnar’s knife against her neck but somehow instead an unnatural calm was sliding over her. She didn’t think she could panic if she wanted to. Not that she wanted to, she needed a clear head to get out of this. Though even with the unnatural calm it was hard to concentrate because her her hands suddenly felt like the bones were about to tear through her skin. She risked a glance at them but could see nothing wrong.
He would be rescuers had frozen at his threat to her and if they hesitated until sunset he’d have the upper hand and she would never escape if that happened. Her mind raced through various options but she could think of but none of them were likely to get him to move the knife even momentarily. Read the rest of this entry »

Karen raced into the hallway in time to see Naria being hustled through a portal. She took in the broken bannister and the scorched patches before her eyes fell on her parents. “What happened? I felt a power surge and then a frenzying dragon. Was it Naria?”
“I’m afraid so.”
Karen frowned as Sonia told her what had happened. “You have to do something about him if his grasp on his powers is slipping. After all it’s not just the dragons that he might panic about if he runs into them.” She gave a crooked smile. “Though his family might actually deserve it.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Just a reminder – This week’s will be up on Saturday due to the server going down earlier this week.
“What a wreck!” Leisa said when they located the derelict house Ragnar had fled to. “I would never have thought of looking here. Ragnar likes his home comforts.”
“Well it’s certainly here,” Tanya said. “Down… I think the cellar must be intact and he’s holed up in there.”
Leisa tutted to herself. “Well he knows his own reputation. I guess he picked this place because he thought we wouldn’t expect it.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Just getting the posts that were lost when the server went down back up. This week’s Haventon Post will go up on Saturday due to the problems.
Ragnar hid the car away from the road in the overgrown garden of the derelict house that he had set up as one of his safe houses. Only the cellar was intact and it wasn’t the best equipped but it was closest and he had made sure it had most things he might need in an emergency. He carried Anna and laid her on a mattress before attaching her chains securely to the ring fastened to the wall above it. Then he bolted and barricaded the door before looking down at her thoughtfully. She was still unconscious but beginning to stir.
“This is crazy,” he said to himself. “Why didn’t I leave you behind? They’ll keep looking for me and you’ll slow me down.” He knew he should cut his losses, kill her and try to flee the town – though he doubted the accursed place would let him yet. But even if he had to stay here he would be able to move faster and avoid their pursuit without her. Read the rest of this entry »

Andrew gestured to Kimi to come with him then helped Kyle and Lyrrekka manoeuvre Naria through the portal. She was still struggling and screaming, so he was relieved to see Ystelyan was waiting for them. The dragon embraced Naria as soon as they appeared in his throne room, murmuring softly to her and stroking her hair as she slowly calmed. Finally, she stopped struggling and began sobbing against his chest. Only then did he look up and gesture to goblin girl who was standing to one side.
“You can start healing her now, Mal.” He gently lifted Naria into his arms and carried her to a couch.
“Yes, father.” The goblin knelt by Naria and laid a hand on her forehead. After a moment she recoiled with a hiss. “Void! What hit her? She’s a mess.” Read the rest of this entry »

Naria was on Anthony before anyone could react, lifting him bodily and tossed him over the bannister down on to the hall floor. She leapt after him, shattering the bannister on the way. Ribbons of blue fire surged from her skin and struck around the room wildly, setting fire to anything flammable.
Anthony had only just regained his feet when she landed on top of him and dug her claws into his stomach. He collapsed to the floor without a sound, not even managing a scream.
Andrew sprinted over and grabbed Naria, dragged her away. She twisted violently in his arms, screaming incoherently. He could feel her trying to drain his energy as well but he managed to keep hold of it. From the groan on the stairs Lucas wasn’t doing so well. Read the rest of this entry »

“Your language is weird,” Andrew said. “I can’t even begin to get my head around it.” They were sitting together in a quiet alcove in the house’s surprisingly large library as she tried to teach him the basics of the draconic language.
Naria chuckled quietly. “That’s what Kyle-alran said when he was learning it. But really it’s just like any other language and you do need to know this, Drew. Enough to bluff your way through the formalities at least.” She gave a wry smile. “And your language is worse. It’s so irregular. I speak water haltia and dwarfish as well and neither is like English.” Read the rest of this entry »
