Alaryia arrived along with her mother within half an hour, closely followed by Takilyan and Estara. They listened in silence to what had happened and then Estara reached out and squeezed Matthias’s hand. He looked up at her in surprise and she smiled gently.
“We’ll get her back,” she said. “We’ll find out who did this and get back from them.” Read the rest of this entry »

Once the storm surge released her, Lydia flailed around trying to escape from the tear back to the others, but the pull of it was too strong and she felt herself being inexorably pulled into it in spite of her struggles. As she tumbled into it, her psychic senses were overwhelmed by energy, rendering her essentially blind – which was why she didn’t sense the other person in the tear with her until they slammed into her, rendering her unconscious. Lydia clung to her mother’s mind as the void storm raged around them. It seemed to be trying to pull her from her mother’s grasp and hurl her into the tear. From this side it loomed in her mind like a chasm, and a very unpleasant feeling was leaking from it. The group struggled briefly against the pull of the storm before managing to reach a calmer area where they could relax. Even though they were all in the resonant form, Lydia felt like she was gasping from the effort and got the same sense from the others. Read the rest of this entry »

“So we’re going into the void to investigate what the tear is like on that side?” Lydia asked when she and Sonia arrived at Ystelyan’s Palace the next morning.
“That’s the plan,” Darlryan said. “And if it seems safe, I want to try flying through it to see what’s happening inside it.”
“That might be dangerous,” Ystelyan said. “We don’t know how the thing works.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Sorry for skipping on Whisper again. I’m going to try and do a load of writing on it and Haventon this weekend.
“I’d definitely say wait another day,” Lucas said after he’d poked at Andrew and Naria’s bond extensively. “It’s not trying to revert so we don’t need to rush it and risk doing you both damage. Are you getting used to it being bound less tightly?”
“Yes,” Andrew said even as Naria nodded. Read the rest of this entry »

“Not good,” Sarah said. “Every single one of those kids and several of their parents were infected. I’ve killed the bug and given them the antidote but it’s going to take a couple of days to get all the damage healed.” She rubbed her forehead. “They’d definitely been targeted to get to Andrew, which means that Xantaria knows your secret identity.”
“Not surprising,” Matthias said. “She was watching Emms and he apparently saw through me as well. It is a little worrying, though. We’ll need to check on Lydia and Dan’s friends as well.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N: Sorry for skipping Whisper this week. I’ll try and update it over the weekend.
“They took the gate better than I expected,” Sonia said later that evening after they’d settled their guests into two of the dorm houses.
“It hardly bothered them at all,” Andrew agreed. “Maybe because they’d seen it on television. I think the one when we rescued that girl in London was caught, right?” Read the rest of this entry »

Sonia returned a few moments later and sat down by Matthias and Andrew.
“So,” she said. “I imagine you have questions.”
“Why were you lying to us about who you were?” The question came from Carrie. She was one of the founding members of the Paranormal Club and also one of the oldest; a couple of years than Andrew. She’d lost both of her parents in the pulse and was looking after her younger brother single-handedly. The boy in question was there as well but he was asleep, leaning against her. Andrew hoped that caring for him was the only reason she looked so tired. Read the rest of this entry »

Andrew watched Sarah begin George’s treatment before heading into the kitchen to finish getting the squash and snacks. When he returned, he placed the tray on the table and sat down near his parents.
“I’m surprised you trusted me just like that,” Alan said. “After all, I could be lying.”
“You could,” Matthias said. “But we do have ways of checking that, if you don’t object. We’ll have to take you to the school to do it though.” Read the rest of this entry »

“Ah! Good, you’re here!” Sonia said as they jumped in. “I know our guests aren’t due for half an hour, but we should be ready before then in case some of them arrive early. How many people are coming?”
“Well if it’s just the club members and their parents, then fifteen or so,” Andrew said. “I did tell George just the club, but in the circumstances I wouldn’t be surprised if he tells more people about it.” Read the rest of this entry »
