Savira didn’t look at any of them when she woke up. Instead, she snarled and began struggling against the crystal chains. The dragon’s rage was palpable, scratching at Lydia skin and making her step backwards.
“Let me go!” She twisted violently and one of the links in the chain cracked slightly but didn’t give. “I have work to do.” She struggled some more but they still held. “I was so close.” Read the rest of this entry »

Kaliss didn’t just respond to Indaturan’s imp but requested transport to join the disscussion. When she arrived, she turned out to be a pretty psychad, small and ethereal with pearlescent hair and large black eyes that reflected the thoughts of those around her. Only the lack of a visible aura and her short stature revealed that she was in her resting form. She looked nervous as she entered the throne room, bobbing her head nervously at the dragons before walking over to where Savira was still unconscious on the floor. She looked down at her heart friend and sighed. Read the rest of this entry »

Lydia leapt to her feet as her parents and the others dragged the still unconscious Savira into Ystelyan’s throneroom and dropped her at Ystelyan’s feet. Ystelyan himself had returned a few minutes earlier with Daniel, who was now in the care of the healers. Now he was sitting in his throne staring down at Savira.
“We need to contain her before she wakes up.” He clapped his hands and two goblins came running in with some odd crystal chains which they attached to Savira’s wrists and ankles. Read the rest of this entry »

Karen bit her lip and knelt down by Daniel as Alaryia began glowing again. “Please be all right, Dan.”
“He’ll be okay,” Alaryia promised. “I’m keeping an eye on him while I work. If the antidote starts wearing off before I finish, I’ll wake him up to drink some more. I hope it doesn’t come to that though. It would be painful for him. Which is why I’m doing it this way.” She plunged one glowing hand into his back as if it were not solid. Karen had seen other healers do that in an emergency and shuddered because she knew the amount of damage it would be doing to her brother’s body. Still, they didn’t really have any other option. “I am very, very glad that I don’t have to face you as an enemy, Sonia-ida.” Indaturan had come up behind them during the fight. “With an attack like that, you’ll shred Mitakrian’s defenses.”
“She shouldn’t have threatened my family,” Sonia said. “No one threatens my family and gets away with it. Not to mention the absolute idiocy of her attacking Matt. Doesn’t she know how much damage that would do?” Read the rest of this entry »

It was only a moment later when Ebona came galloping up with Halia and Alariya on her back. Halia leapt off Ebona’s bck and rushed straight to Kiasan while Alaryia rushed to Matthias’s side and joined the fight.
Halia laid a hand on Kiasan’s head for a moment before smiling. “You did a good job stopping the bleeding, Daniel-idan. I’ll just have to get rid of the blood that had already pooled and heal the damage from the pressure. He’ll be fine. You saved his life.” She closed her eyes and began glowing. “You keep drinking the antidote. I’ll see what I can do for you once I’ve finished wth Kiasan but I suspect you’ll need to wait for mother.” Read the rest of this entry »

Daniel prepared to jump on the dragon and cage in his essence the way Andrew had when he helped stop Naria frenzying but it proved unnecessary; the dragon crumpled the floor and lay there unmoving. So instead, Daniel crawled over to him as the building shuddered again and checked his pulse. He was still alive but unconscious and breathing raggedly. Read the rest of this entry »

The sphere exploded in Savira’s face and she staggered back, shaking her head. The wave hit Daniel as well but only disorientated him slightly. He didn’t think the aftereffects of the explosion would stop her for long, so he took advantage of her distraction to dart past her and through the door, sprinting towards where he could feel his father and the others approaching. Daniel took advantage of the brief pause while Savira was gloating to roll to his feet and unhook his spear from his back.
Savira lunged at him again, obviousy aiming to disarm him, but this time he was ready and threw himself over her sharp claws, aiming his spear for her throat. His aim was true but thanks to her thick hide, the blow barely scratched her.
She hissed angrily at him as he landed and tried to circle around him to strike at his back but he circled as well, making sure she could neither flank nor corner him. As he did, he extended his psychic senses and weighed up what he could feel of her strength. He was stronger than her! The realisation gave him a momentary surge of hope but he squashed it back. He had to be realistic here. Yes, he was stronger, but it was barely an edge at all given how much more experience she had with using her powers. Still, he’d fought other skilled and experienced dragons and prevailed and that was before he was mature. All he had to do was hold her until the bomb went off and then run for it once she was stunned. Assuming Alaryia had successfully excluded the team’s psychic signatures from the effect, anyway. She’d said she had and he believed her but things could always go wrong. Read the rest of this entry »

Daniel held his breath and pressed himself against the smooth wooden wall of Savira’s lair as he waited for the two goblin guards to pass him. He had faith in his ability to conceal himself, especially with Ebona as backup. But Ebona wasn’t here and not only had he never been sneaking into the heart of a dragon’s lair before, but Ystelyan had warned him that Savira was extremely perceptive. It might have given him more pause before he agreed to join the team to infiltrate her lair but she had attacked Lydia and he would not stand for anyone attacking his family.
