“That was sudden,” Mahir said. “I wonder what made Promise react like that.”

“It’s gone to signal its kind like it said,” Summer said. “That’s all.” The Mez seemed quite certain of that. “I think it likes us and wants to help.”

Amanpreet nodded. “I think that’s right, Promise has been very helpful.” Even as she spoke Promise re-emerged from hyperspace and signaled them. Read the rest of this entry »

About Haventon

February 5th, 2015  |  Published in News  |  1 Comment

Hi Peeps,

I’m know several of you are wondering when Haventon Book 2 Lord of the Wolves will start posting. I can now answer that question.

The answer is Tomorrow (5th February 2015).

That’s the good news.

The bad news is that posting will be sporadic. I will post each chapter on the Thursday after it is finished but I cannot guarantee that it will be weekly or even fortnightly – all I can say is that I’ll attempt to get up at least one chapter a month, hopefully more, and these will be full not part chapters. So you’ll have to keep an eye out for new posts.

In other news – just in case you missed it –  I currently have $33/month worth of pledges on my Patreon. If we reach $50/month I’ll start posting Shattered (a tradtional fantasy of which I have 20 chapters written) once a fortnight.  To wet your appetite you can read Chapter One here.  If you want to read it please consider becoming a Patron. Thanks!

“My mirian says Ken is responding well,” Adrian said when he arrived about half an hour later. “But it’s going to be at least a week before he can safely bring him around.”

“I’d imagine not,” Sarah said. “The pain would be excruciating if he brought him around too soon.” She rose to her feet and inclined her head to Kadira. “Thank you for the tea, Kadira-alra, but as I said, I need to go to Waldhafen before we go home.” She looked over at Mantilan and smiled. “I’ll come back and tell you about your heart friend’s kin.” Read the rest of this entry »

It was a couple of hours later that Sarah knocked on Kadira’s door. She looked exhausted but Andrew was glad to see her. Even though they’d only discussed Mantilian and the situation on Earth, he couldn’t shake the feeling that if their mothers were in the same room much longer, they would start planning a wedding for him and Naria.

I know what you mean, Naria said to him privately as she brought more tea for Sarah. They do have that vibe, don’t they? I’ve told mother that we’ll decide what we do about the bond we have. She was quiet for a moment. I would like to make it permanent, but it’s our decision not theirs. Read the rest of this entry »

Andrew watched his mother head out the door with Mantilan, and then looked back at Kadira.

“Moritah Plain?” he asked. Beside him he felt Kimi shudder violently but she didn’t answer.

“That’s a terrible story.” Kadira also shuddered briefly. “Moritah Plain was home to the largest city in the Heartlands. Moritah was larger than Waldhafen, even, and had the largest Core Gate at its heart. About two centuries ago, Shalriya and Mitakrian attacked it, intending to force their way through the gate and destroy the Core.” She rubbed at her temples. “There were far fewer warriors then, but the three that the Core called managed to stop them with the help of the guardians – but the battle left the whole plain totally lifeless. The entire city died and Mantilan was one of the few survivors. We still don’t know who saved him.” Read the rest of this entry »

A/N 2: Torvawk, I hope the email you leave when you comment is correct because I’ve sent you something. If not pop me a message via the contact form with the correct one and I’ll send it again.

“I’ll grab Dalrydan-mirian and ask to talk to Laxmi while I’m here,” Sonia said as she finished her drink. “Thank you for the tea, but I’m surprised that you have it. I was expecting some sort of herbal brew when you offered.”

Kadira chuckled. “Lyrrekka-ida isn’t the first twice-made you know. There was one who joined Ystelyan’s court about a century ago who missed the beverage and snuck back across to get some plants. He is a lifeweaver and was able to get them to grow well here and the drink proved quite popular.” Read the rest of this entry »

“It’s likely to take quite a while for every representative on the Council to record their messages,” Lin said. “So now we wait again. We have had a message back that they concur with our idea and they want Promise to record its kinds message as it is the only one they currently have contact with.”

“I will do that,” Promise’s reply came over the intercom. “I think my kind can form a mutually beneficial relationship with them as well since they’ll need hyperspace ships and it will take a while to grow any for them.” Read the rest of this entry »

Sonia took a seat at the other end of the couch from Andrew as Naria poured tea for her. “Thank you, dear.” She looked back to Kadira. “Now what did you want to talk about?”

“Forgive my impertinence in raising this, but I think you need to look to Andrew-idan’s well being. He’s been through a lot and with all that’s happened since, he’s been too busy to sort through it himself.” Read the rest of this entry »

Kadira smiled as Naria poured the tea for the three of them before sitting down herself.

“Naria was telling me about what is happening on Taloa just before you arrived, Andrew-idan,” Kadira said. “It sounds awful.”

“You don’t have to add the honorific,” Andrew said. “Andrew or Drew is fine. And yes, it is, and it’s all my fault. If only I hadn’t been so gullible, Emms wouldn’t have captured me.” Read the rest of this entry »

Nobody asked what the message said because it was clear from the way Lin closed her eyes and held her headphones to her ears that she was trying to block them all out while she translated the it. Instead they all stood in silence and waited for her to finish.

It took far longer than actually receiving the message had and she was obviously going over it several times. Eventually she nodded to herself and looked around at them. Read the rest of this entry »
